I own not one, but Two 3D printers. Yes, two. That's English for Dos. And yes, they can print in all three dimensions. It's no big deal...
Meet Tesla, the Makerbot Cupcake. This is the smaller of the two, and he's not currently operational. I'm getting close, though... Two bolts and a hunk of plastic, I'll have it running in no time. If I get a free moment after this post, maybe. And this here is Edison. He's printing out a shotglass as I type this, and it has about fifteen minutes left to go. I bought him, a BitsFromBytes Rapman, before Tesla, because the Rapman printers have 8 times the build area of the Makerbots. At first, I bought it solely for its application to engineering, its capability to make robot parts (more on that later... stay tuned), but it's turned into a great hobby.
So, yeah. These two printers, a lighter, and a dremel are the pinnacle of my engineering capability. They can make anything I can imagine, and tend to do so on a daily basis. And if my imagination is suffering from caffiene withdrawal, Thingiverse.com is just full of things I can make.
Edison's down to about six minutes now, so I'll stop this blog post when the print's done.
[One Facebook check later...]
Anyone want a shotglass?
